Building Materials

Building material is used for construction purposes. Many naturally occurring substances, such as clay, rocks, sand, and wood, are used to construct buildings.
Some of the components of building materials are: Sand, Aggregate, Brick, Cement, Ply wood, etc.
Sand is used with cement, and sometimes lime, so as to make mortar for masonry work and plaster. Sand is also used as a part of the concrete mix.
Bricks are made of mud, fired (“burned” in a brick clamp or kiln) after they have air-dried to permanently harden them. These are considered to be essential component material of a building.
Cement bonded composites are made of hydrated cement paste. It binds wood, particles, or fibers to make pre-cast building component. Various fibrous materials, including paper, fiberglass, and carbon-fiber have been used as binders.
Plywood is a sheet material manufactured from thin layers or “plies” of wood veneer. These plies are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another.
Aggregate, is a broad category of coarse particulate material used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, and slag, recycled concrete and geo-synthetic aggregates.
